I’m sorry I’m the one to deliver the news,
But now you’ll know you’ve nothing to lose.
I don’t know how, nor do I know why,
But sometime today, you’re going to die.
I hope your day lasts, really I do.
But how your time’s spent, that’s all up to you.
I’m curious, what will you do with your day?
Knowing death’s not that far away.
Will you meet up with family and friends?
Or will you write letters for when your life ends?
Do you go for a walk? A bike ride, or run?
Or stay inside until your day is done.
How ‘bout a trip? Is it near, or quite far?
I wonder, though, if you’ll just stay where you are.
So, my point? Don’t you see? You’ve been thinking this through,
You want this last day to be special to you.
So this is my question, and I hope that it’s clear,
What if instead of a day, you had a week, month, or year?
Because that’s life for you! You can’t know when you’ll die.
And often it's done before you can even say goodbye.
But you shouldn’t fear death, that’s a waste of your time.
Please, just live life to its fullest, and make each day sublime.
Your life isn’t perfect, nor should it be,
Else in that life, you’d never feel glee.
Life goes so fast, in the blink of an eye,
So catch it, hold on, and don’t let it pass you by.
