Everything is different when the rain falls
And the drops hit the side of a window pane
And the ground’s craters fill with small lakes
And the plants rise up to meet the downpour

The world shifts as the rain falls
A spell is cast over everyone it engulfs
That can only be broken when the sun comes out
To clear it all away

When the rain falls it is just you and me
Me and you and no one else
With the water surrounding us, the world is our oyster
To live within, in our own kingdom under the sea

We sit together, you and me, watching the rain fall
You hold me close and I hold you closer still
The water outside is deafening
But still the world is silent

The rain falls more insistently now
As it hits the windows with a vengeance
The lakes rise and spill over
And the plants beg the clouds to stop

The rain falls and it is just the two of us
You and me, in our oyster under the sea
But the tide is coming in fast
And I don’t know if I will see you when it goes out again
