What does the dreamer settle for?
What do the silent hide from?

Is every single goal
merely an illusion?
Is each passing moment
one wasted with effort
Or one spent
in the bliss of not trying?

The figures pretend to notice
Mouths move, eyes glance, heads turn
But sound isn’t detected
They were actually just staring through you

One could never give away enough
To understand
With no recipient
Instead, only harm is done

One remains lodged deep in the darkness
Reflecting on each action
And those disappeared moments
Soon learning to peel away each distant emotion

However, hope is not lost
One can find comfort from within
Clutching memories and wishes
Like a child clinging to a cheap plastic toy

Growth is inevitable
And recovery is common
The hollow spaces are filled with warmth
A portion of you is left behind

If the dreamer had never dreamed
If every thought was cast away immediately
If a transformation wasn’t made
What would be left?
